It's already March

Took the Multi-Cultural Art survey class to Chicago for the day on Tuesday (3/13). We went to both the Art Institute and the Museum of Contemporary Art. Good stuff at both museums. Enjoyed the Rudolph Stingel show more than I thought I would. I left my marks on the silver walls - and carpets really enjoyed the paintings too. Found a great little artist book Primer on Art Criticism by Norman A Colp. MCA Exposed - Defining Moments in Photography 1967 -2007 was also a treat. In addition it provided a number of good opportunities to see work by artists we have been talking about - and some who we will be talking about later in the semester.

New Semester - New Stuff

Obsessive and Compulsive - Graphite on Linen 17 ' x 37" 2006 - Too much time since the last post - I will try to do this more often. New semester is well underway - I am teaching painting for the first time in three years - and really enjoying it. Digital Imaging and Design has started slowly but we have "geared up " well for the projects phase. I am looking forward to finally getting some time in the studio again. I have just cleared the two largest hurdles for tenure - Both my department and campus have voted in favor - the matter now moves on to the Chancellor and then the Regents, neither of which should be a problem; but there will be no celebrations until May (any way it's too cold here for a good party). The image above and another are currerntly in a show at the Wisconsin Arts Board's gallery space in Madison.
